THE
SUPER POPULUM
also called the Prayer of Bowed Heads
The
Priest sings this prayer in a simple tone, facing westwards to the
people, as they bow their heads (they rise at the doxology, crossing
themselves). The Prayer of Bowed Heads for Sept. 14 is as
follows.
Bowed Heads
Adesto familiae
Be
with and help Thy family, we beseech Thee, O compassionate and merciful
God, that amidst times difficult and times favourable Thou mayst hearken
to their prayers, and be pleased to crush the wickedness of their
adversaries by the aid of the Holy Cross, that they may succeed in
reaching the harbour of Thy salvation. + Through
our Lord Jesus Christ Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the
communion of the Holy Spirit, God through all the ages of ages. Choir:
Amen.
