Icon of St. Brithwald of Wilton

Back to WESTERN SAINTS ICONS

Icon of St. Brithwald (Brihtwold), of Wilton

Feast: January 22

St. Brithwald was a monk of Glastonbury in England, and was consecrated Bishop of Ramsey in 1005 (this see was later moved from Ramsey and Wilton to Salisbury, that is, Sarum). He is known for having gifts of visions and prophecy, and endowed Glastonbury and Malmesbury abbeys.

Holy Father Brithwald, pray to God for us!

Icon by an unknown hand, from "Orthodox England," the website of St. Felix & St. Edmund Orthodox Church, Felixstowe, UK, by gracious permission of Fr. Andrew Phillips.

A note on the icon graphics we host on this site, including the above icon:
St. John Cassian Press does not "carry," i.e., reproduce, sell, or stock these icons. Those who wish to acquire icons should contact the icon's producer / distributor, if shown; otherwise, an icon maker or distributor should be contacted (a cursory list appears on the main Icons page).
