Icon of St. Chrysogonus, the
Martyr of Aquileia, with St. Anastasia of Rome
Feast Day:
November 24
Much
venerated in Italy and known throughout the Orthodox West for his
inclusion in the list of saints in the Canon Missae of the Gregorian
rite, St. Chrysogonus was a Roman official, and the confidant of St.
Anastasia. For his faith he was cast into prison, and in the end,
beheaded at Aquileia, in the north of Italy, during the persecutions of
Diocletian the wicked emperor. Holy Martyr Chrysogonus, pray to God for
us!
