Icon of Our Holy Father Edwin,
King and Martyr of Northumbria
Feast: Oct. 12
King Edwin was a great friend
and supporter of St. Paulinus of York in his mission to northern
England. He was the father of St. Edwen, the virgin of Wales. St. Edwin
was slain in battle by the theomachistic king Penda of Mercia in 633.
