Icon of St. Euplus, Martyr of
Catania in Sicily
Feast Day: April 29, August 12
St. Euplus was a deacon at
Catania, Sicily, during the persecution of emperior Diocletian. He was
found guilty of possessing a copy of the Gospels, being tried by the
governor Calvisian. When the Saint persisted in refusing to sacrifice
to the gods, he was beheaded.
