Icon of St. Julian the
Hospitable
Feast: Feb. 12
Little is known about the
specifics of St. Julian's life, though he is usually considered to have
lived in the 9th c. in Gaul, near Angers. He accidentally killed his
parents and did penance by running a charitable house near a river.
After he lovingly cared for a leper whom he allowed to sleep in his own
bed, God revealed to him that his sins were forgiven. Holy Father
Julian, pray to God for us!
Note: Like St. Christopher,
St. Julian Hospitable ("the Hospitaller") has been marked out by the
modern Roman Catholic Church as insufficiently documented historically
to merit a public veneration such as he had before.
The iconic image is from an
unknown source, but apparently an Italian fresco.
